Hello, my name is Hyung-Jo Yoon, and I am an associate professor in the department of Linguistics/TESL at California State University, Northridge. My research interests include phraseology and computational text analysis, particularly for second language writing, as well as assessment and task-based language teaching. My recent work addresses the validation of linguistic measures in terms of their detection of second language development; I am currently exploring how corpus-based measures can be used as an alternative to traditional accuracy measures and as a pedagogical tool for learners. Additionally, I began a collaborative project on how to offer adequate professional development for ESL teachers, with a focus on clarifying the skills and knowledge to be effective teachers.
I have developed an automated processing tool, the Authorial Voice Analyzer, which analyzes interactional metadiscourse features systematically. Feel free to use the tool and let me know if you have any questions! |
